FORT PIERRE — The make-up of the Fort Pierre City Council will not be changing this year. Fort Pierre Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen says only incumbent members of the Council returned petitions for this election. Greg Kenzy, Callie Iverson and Todd Bernhard will retain their seats on the Council. Meanwhile, election season opened Wednesday for the Pierre City Commission and Pierre School Board. On the city side only a mayor’s race is up in 2023. Current Mayor Steve Harding has decided to seek another term as mayor to see major projects started under is guidance finish out. For the Pierre School Board, current Board Chair Dan Cronin is seeking reelection to the School Board. Petitions must be filed by March 28th. If challengers submit petitions, an election date is set for June 6th.
