The Pierre Governor basketball teams would get passed the Roosevelt Roughriders on Friday as the boys picked up a huge win 68-63 at home and the girls dominating 57-26 on the road.
The Governors had a big night from Jackson Edman who led the way with 22 points on the evening. Lincoln Kienholz had 12 of his 19 in the second quarter to help the Govs go from a two point deficit to an eight point lead at the break. Jacob Mayer added 13 and went 4-4 from the free throw line. Pierre hit 6-9 free throws in the win while Roosevelt went 0-3. Pierre improves to 12-7 and has one more big game left with Jefferson to try and get a home SoDak 16 playoff game.
The Governor girls ran out to a 38-12 lead at halftime en route to its 16 win of the season with a top three matchup set to play at home on Monday. The Governors can hold on to the two seed with a win over Jefferson and get an even more favorable matchup in the SoDak 16 next Friday.
