PIERRE — The Hughes County Commission is meeting tonight at the Hughes County Courthouse. Commissioners will consider approval of a three item consent calendar before moving on to the main agenda. In unfinished business, Commissioners will consider a land purchase contract and the state Department of Transportation’s Highway 14 project and will get quotes for computers for Commissioners. Two public hearings are on the agenda. One is for a franchise agreement renewal with Northwestern Energy and an approach variance. Nicole Gordon with the Central South Dakota Enhancement District will meet with Commissioners and the group will hear the 2022 Planning and Zoning Department report. Commissioners will also meet with the Highway and Equalization Departments; will discuss the national opioid settlement; contracts with the Hughes County Jail and hear reports from liaisons and the County Manager.
