Oahe Capitals Teams Begin State Tournament Journey

Three Oahe Capitals teams will play in their respective state tournaments this weekend as the Peewee B and C teams and the girls 14U team will play Friday through Sunday.

The Peewee B team won the league championship and will be the number one seed in the state tournament which will be played in Mitchell. The Capitals will the eight seed the Yankton Miracle in the first round at 7:00, the final game of the day. With wins to the title they will play at 3:00 on both Saturday and Sunday. The Peewee B team went 11-2-0-1 on the season.

The girls 14U team is the second overall seed and tied the Rushmore Thunder in points for the league title. However, the Capitals lost the tiebreaker and will be the second seed playing in Watertown this weekend. The Caps will open the tournament against the Mitchell Marlins at 3:00 on Friday. They look to play at 3:00 every day of the weekend on their way to competing for the title. The 14U girls went 11-3 on the year.

The Peewee C team will be in Sioux Center this weekend as the four seed and will face the host team Tornadoes in the first round of the tournament. With only seven teams in the tournament, a loss for the Capitals will put them into Sunday’s consolation championship with the top seed getting a bye in the first round. The Peewee C team will play at 2:00 on Friday and if they make the state championship will play at 2:00 all three days.
