Governors Roll through Brookings in Short Night

The Pierre Governor basketball teams would have to deal with the varsity games moving up to 5:30 instead of 7:00 but had no problems with the boys and girls rolling 70-30 and 57-31 respectively.

The Governor girls got a career high 20 points from junior Reese Terwilliger as the Governors had no problems getting past the Brookings Bobcats on the road. The Governors improve to 14-3 on the season and are looming into a top three matchup with Jefferson next Tuesday. However, the Governors still need to turn their focus on Mitchell on Friday as Pierre will host two of the last three games of the season.

The Governor boys held Brookings to just four points in the second quarter as they expanded a three point lead to a 20 point lead at half time on senior night. Four Governors reached double figures as Lincoln Kienholz would lead the way with 19 points while Brecken Krueger had 14, Ben Heisler with 12 and Jackson Edman with 10. Pierre honored the eight seniors and the seven that would suit up for the game all found the score column in the win as the Govs improve to 11-6 on the season and will face three top five teams to close the season.

The Governor boys will play on Thursday in Mitchell as KCCR will have coverage at 6:30 and tip off at 7:00 with Jon Winkler on the call.
