Capitals Escape Saturday, Roll Sunday to Two Wins

The Oahe Capitals boys would pick up two wins over the weekend, hanging on to beat the Sioux Falls 2 Flyers on Saturday 5-4 and rolling to a 7-2 win on Sunday over Aberdeen.

The Capitals trailed early in the first period on Saturday before two goals by Jarron Beck to give the Caps a 2-1 lead. Devin Dodson would add to it as the Caps went up 3-1 at the end of the first period. Sioux Falls would cut the lead to 3-2 as the Caps continued to open up a two goal lead, but the Flyers wouldn’t go away quietly. Barrett Schweitzer and Aiden Dozark would core in the second and third periods for Oahe to pick up the win. Colin Lee would make 27 saves on 31 shots.

On Sunday, the Caps wanted to make amends from the previous game. Ashton Griese scored two goals 22 seconds a part not even two minutes into the game to give the Caps an early lead. Oahe would lead 4-0 with 10:47 left in the period and would start a running clock with still 14 minutes remaining in the second period. Schweitzer, Andre Carbonneau, Carter Gordon, Dozark an Dodson would all score in the win as the Capitals improve to 13-2-0-1 on the season.
