Pierre Governors Face Bismarck in Governor’s Cup with Boys at Home and Girls on the Road

The Pierre Governor basketball teams will be playing its only out of state game of the season tonight as they take on the Bismarck Demons with the boys at home and the girls on the road.

Both Governor teams dropped its game last year to Bismarck as they now look for different outcomes in different gyms. The Governor boys had to travel up to Bismarck and just fell short of a long range shooting team while the girls couldn’t get the win at home. The Demon boys team is fighting the .500 mark on the season after its win last night over Bismarck St. Mary’s to improve to 8-8. Pierre remains in the top eight of the AA standings looking for a win to stay in the top eight.

The Demon girls are now at 13-4 with its win over Bismarck St. Mary’s as the girls are in fourth place in the West Region standings. The Pierre girls are within striking distance of the top seed overall in Class AA and a game still with Jefferson on the schedule, as long as the girls continue to win, they will have a chance to win and pass the Cavaliers at the end of the regular season. Pierre, in third place is at 13-2 and are now on a five game winning streak.

Coverage of the boys game will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports starting at 6:30 and tip off at 7:00 with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
