Governor Boys Dunk Way to Victory while Girls Fall to Bismarck

The Pierre Governor boys had 10 dunks on the night in a high scoring win while the Governor girls were stymied in a rare loss Friday night against the Bismarck Demons.

The Governor girls couldn’t find the offense in the second half, but did take a 22-21 lead into the break on the road in Bismarck. However, it was the Demons that took control in the second half and rallied for a 54-36 win over the Govs. Reese Terwilliger led the way for Pierre with 10 points in the loss as the Govs fall to 13-3 on the season before traveling to Brookings on Tuesday.

In the Governor boys game it was a dunkfest as Pierre scored 29 points in the first quarter on their way to an 89-67 win over the Demons to reclaim the Governors Cup. Jackson Edman had 26, Lincoln Kienholz had 23 and Ben Heisler had 22 to lead the Governors. All three had at least three dunks in the win as well. The Govs had 49 points at the break and the high flying, high octane offense of Bismarck couldn’t keep up with the Governors who had easy layups and dunks all night to improve to 10-6 on the season.

The Governor boys will host Brookings on Tuesday while the girls will travel. KCCR will have coverage of the girls game on the road starting at 6:30 and tip off at 7:00 with the game available to be watched on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
