Prior to his last home wrestling match of his career at TF Riggs High School, Josh Rydberg signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his wrestling career at the University of Sioux Falls.
The University of Sioux Falls is reigniting its wrestling program while also adding women’s wrestling to the mix and Rydberg will be a part of the first team back for the Cougars. Matt Meuleners’s will be the first head coach of the restarted program heading into the fall of 2023 as Rydberg will join the team. Rydberg achieved All American status in the 2022 National AAU Jr/Sr Twin Rivers Duals in April beating both the Montana state heavyweight champ and the Texas state heavyweight champ. Heading into his final dual of the season, Rydberg has posted a 33-6 record and looking to finish a top the heavyweight class at the state tournament. Shawn Lewis, head coach of the Pierre Governors is excited for Rydberg to be one of the guys to get the program going again…
Rydberg will wrestle in the region round to qualify for state and then look to wrestle for the Governors in the state dual tournament and individually to close out his Governor career.
