Charger Girls, Boys Knock off Potter County in Doubleheader Sweep

The Sully Buttes Charger girls improved to 12-2 on the season with a 63-52 victory over Potter County Friday night in Onida. The Lady Battlers are in second place in the Region 6B standings, and now slip to 9-5. Stevie Wittler once again showed her scoring prowess with a 23 point night, while Lydia Hill led in low post scoring, ending her night with 20 points.

The Chargers led 31-21 at the half, but the Lady Battlers played Sully Buttes even in the second half, with Tyler Simon having a big night—finishing with 25 points, while Kayden Cronin ended with 19 points.

Meanwhile the Sully Buttes Charger boys held on til halftime-trailing 46-39 at the break, but exploded in the second half en route to a 81-71 victory over Potter County. The Chargers took control in the third quarter, outscoring Potter County 24-9, and despite a furious Battler comeback late in the fourth quarter, the Chargers upped their season mark to 3-10, while Potter County slips to 1-11.

Freshman Wesley Wittler led all scorers with 26 points, while senior Landon Hepker added 23 for the Chargers. Potter County was led in scoring by Ryder Falkenhagen’s 24 points, and Alex Tanner adding eighteen.

The Battlers drained nine three point shots in the first half, but only added one more in the second. Sully Buttes hit for two treys in the first half, but came alive in the second, and finished with 10 as well.

Next up for Sully Buttes is a girls-boys doubleheader Tuesday night in Onida, as they host Herreid Selby Area.
