The Oahe Capitals boys are set for two major contests this weekend starting tonight against undefeated Sioux Falls 1 and then the boys and girls face the Watertown Lakers on Saturday with Pink the Rink.
The Capitals have won five straight and will face its toughest challenge since the beginning of January, but this time will be at home. Sioux Falls 1 has yet to lose a game and has only given up six goals in 12 games. However, it will be the first home game since Dec. 30 for the Capitals and only the fifth time skating on home ice all season.
The Capitals will then host Watertown on Saturday as part of Pink the Rink. Games begin at 8:00 and will culminate with the boys varsity contest at 7:15. Watertown comes into the weekend at 6-9 and will face Sioux Falls 2 on Friday before heading to the Expo Center.
The Capital girls are on a four game winning streak starting with beating the Lakers in overtime and spending last weekend winning three games all on shutouts. The Caps are now in fifth place in the standings and can help try and solidify that spot with a second win over Watertown. Watertown is at 1-11-0-1 coming into the weekend.
Coverage on Friday will begin at 7:40 with puck drop at 8:00 as Saturday’s games will have coverage around 2:10 for the girls game and puck drop at 2:30 then again at 7:00 with puck drop scheduled for 7:15 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
