The Stanley County Buffaloes inched closer and closer to Chamberlain, but the Cubs pulled away with a third quarter run to a 65-51 win on Thursday.
Stanley County moved within 10 points of Chamberlain in the third quarter, but then the Cubs came alive both offensively and defensively and had the lead by 22 at the end of the third frame. Stanley County turned the ball over 22 times on the night. Kenyon McCloskey led the way for the Cubs with 22 points as they snap a four game losing streak and improve to 5-8. Stanley County falls to 3-12 on the season.
The Stanley County boys will return to the court Monday to face the Potter County Battlers in Gettysburg.
