Pierre Basketball Makes Second Straight Statement with Win over Harrisburg

The Pierre Governor Girls basketball team has faced O’Gorman and Harrisburg both on the road and the Governors came away with its second straight win against a top six team beating the Tigers 40-30 Tuesday night.

Pierre went down 10-4 early but stormed back to an early second quarter lead in which they never relinquished. In fact, after trailing 11-8 after the first quarter, the Govs held the Tigers to just three points in the second quarter and never allowed Harrisburg to score more than 10 in a quarter. Reese Terwilliger had the team high 10 points for Pierre while Lennix DuPris had nine, Remi Price with seven and Ayvrie Kaiser with six. Both DuPris and Kaiser missed the last game due to injury but returned to the starting lineup. Pierre’s stout defense forced Harrisburg into 17 turnovers as the Govs improve to 11-2 while the Tigers fall to 10-3.

Pierre returns home on Friday to face the Yankton Gazelles. Tip off is at 7:00 and the game can be heard on KCCR and available to watch on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
