Pierre Basketball Takes on Aberdeen with Girls Hosting and Boys Traveling

The Pierre Governor basketball teams are set to face the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles today with the girls hosting and the boys on the road.

The Governor girls are coming in with just its second loss of the season last time out, with a 75-69 loss to the Brandon Valley Lynx on Thursday. Pierre is at 8-2 and face Aberdeen who comes in at 3-5 on the year, but beat Brandon Valley on Saturday on the road 51-39. Aberdeen Central held the Lynx to 36 fewer points in the win as the Golden Eagles have won back-to-back games after dropping five of its first six games of the year. Even with the win over the Lynx, Aberdeen still sits in 13th place in the AA standings while the Govs only dropped a spot to number three.

The Pierre boys picked up a 30 point win on Saturday to put the buzzer beating loss completely behind them, routing the Douglas Patriots to improve to 7-3 on the year. Aberdeen Central is just at 2-6 on the year but they also beat Brandon Valley on Saturday at home. The Golden Eagles had dropped five straight prior to the win. The Governors are still in the top five of the AA standings while Aberdeen is currently in 14th place.
