Governor Girls Win, Boys Fall in Double Overtime against Aberdeen

The Pierre Governor girls picked up its ninth win of the season on Tuesday swarming to a nine point win while the boys would fall in double overtime on the road against the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles.

The Governor girls were tied 13-13 at the end of the first quarter and only trailed by two at the end of three. However, Pierre built up a 13 point lead in the fourth quarter and finished off the win 63-54 to improve to 9-2 on the season. Remington Price had a game high 23 points to lead the Governors while Reese Terwilliger added another 17 points and Ryann Barry hit seven free throws in the fourth quarter to help seal the win finishing with 13. Pierre went 16-30 from the line and forced Aberdeen into 23 turnovers. Taryn Hermensen led Aberdeen with 22 points as they fall to 3-6 on the year.

Spencer Barr had a game high 51 points to lead the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles to a double overtime win against the Pierre boys in Aberdeen with a 84-82 win. The Golden Eagles had to score late in the first overtime to tie the game back up and send the game to a second extra session and Pierre was unable to score in the final seconds looking to reach a third OT. Lincoln Kienholz reached the 30 point plateau in the loss as he led the Governors with 31 points. The Governors are now 7-4 on the year while Aberdeen improves to 3-6 on the season.

Pierre will face O’Gorman on Friday. The boys will host while the girls will travel. The boys game will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with coverage beginning at 6:30.
