Hughes County Commission To Meet On Rare Thursday Night

PIERRE — The Hughes County Commission is holding a rare Thursday night meeting tonight. The meeting was moved from it’s normal night of Monday for the Martin Luther King holiday. Commissioners will hold a public hearing for an ordinance to amend certain planning and zoning fees. The Commission will discuss the 2023 calendar and consider two pay applications, an emergency management contract with Stanley County and a mutual aid agreement for the Intercounty/Tribal sharing of resources during emergencies. Commissioners will consider approval of jail contracts, a combined election agreement and annual reports from the Register of Deeds, Treasurer and Auditor. Other agenda items include a contract with the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance, approval of the claims and reports. Commissioners will also meet in executive session for employees.
