ALEXANDRA — An Onida man has been identified by the South Dakota Highway Patrol as the man killed in a crash last week in Hanson County. The Highway Patrol says 52 year-old Alan Weinheimer was killed in the one-vehicle crash five miles east of Alexandra on Interstate 90. A passenger, 51 year-old Cori Weinheimer of Onida was not injured. The crash investigation indicates Alan Weinheimer was driving a 2001 Ford Excursion east on the Interstate when it lost control, went into the ditch and rolled over. The S-U-V overturned multiple times. The Interstate was icy at the time of the crash around 9:35 p.m. Weinheimer was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell where he died. Cori Weinheimer was using a seat belt at the time of the crash.
