The Sully Buttes girls led 18-15 at the half, but opened things up in the third quarter–leading 41-25, and the Lady Cavaliers made some shots in the fourth to pull closer, but to no avail. The Charger girls’ now sit at 7-0, while Aberdeen Roncalli falls to 4-2.
In the boys game, the Chargers trailed 18-10 after one quarter, and 32-25 at the half, but also turned it on in the third to take a 47-42 lead, thanks to hot shooting from behind the arc by Wesley Wittler, who had two three pointers, while Thomas Farries added another two treys. But Aberdeen Roncalli came storming back, scoring 20 points in the final stanza, and denied a Charger three point attempt at the buzzer to escape with the win. The Cavaliers are now 3-2, while the Charger boys drop to 0-4.
Wesley Wittler–Stevie’s little brother–ended his night with 23 points, while Landon Hepker added 20, and Thomas Farries finished with 14. Darwin Gambler hit for 15 points for Aberdeen Roncalli, while Maddox Miller added 13.
Next up for the Chargers–the boys have to re-group and hit the court Tuesday in Ipswich to take on the Tigers. Tipoff is set for 7:15, with a 7PM pregame on Country 95.3FM with DT Meyer on the call. The Charger girls are back on the court in Miller Thursday for a girls-boys doubleheader.
