Capital Girls Go 1-2 in Home Weekend 

The Oahe Capital girls were successful picking up its first win of the season on Friday and went 1-2 on the weekend with losses to Brooking and Sioux Falls on Saturday and Sunday.

Six different Capitals scored in the 6-4 win on Friday over Huron. Emily Nemec, Katherine Reiss, Ava Lavinger, Brenna Ullman, Sara Bierne and Micah Buffalo all scored for the Caps in the win as Bierne, Reiss and Buffalo each had a goal and an assist. Sophia Peschong had 18 saves on 22 shots in the win.

On Saturday, the Brookings Rangers got the best of the Caps in a 5-1 win. Brookings took a 3-0 lead after two periods, but Lavinger scored her second goal in as many games to pull the Caps within 3-1, but the Rangers answered with two quick goals to put the game out of reach. Abby Stewart-Fromm made 21 saves as the Caps were outshot 26-8 in the contest.

Oahe was shutout 3-0 to Sioux Falls on Sunday for the second time this season. Sioux Falls scored two quick goals this time to begin the game scoring twice in 17 seconds, just two minutes into the game. However, Oahe played the Flyers close to the third period until Zoe Gorra made it 3-0 halfway through the period.

Oahe is now 1-4-1-0 on the season and will now wait until Sunday Jan. 15 when they travel to Brookings to face the Rangers.
