Governors Boys, Girls Pick Up Wins over Watertown

Both Pierre Governor basketball teams are now 3-0 as they head in the Christmas break as Pierre would defeat Watertown both at home and on the road on Tuesday.

The Governor girls, playing in its home opener, would hold the Arrows to just six made field goals the entire night as Watertown couldn’t get anything going offensively in a 51-29 win for the Govs. Watertown would shoot 16-22 from the free throw line but would turn the ball over 21 times in its first loss of the season. Ayvrie Kaiser would lead all scorers with 12 points while Reese Terwilliger would add 11 and Remi Price 10 as three players scored in double figures and nine players in total found the score sheet for the Govs. Pierre opened up a 4-0 lead before Watertown would hit its only three of the game to pull within one and that’s as close as it would ever get as Pierre led wire to wire.

The Governor boys went on the road for the first time and came away with a 64-46 win over the Arrows as they go to 3-0. Lincoln Kienholz would drop 17 points to lead all scorers while Benjamin Heisler and Jackson Edman each would score 15. Heisler would also throw down another three dunks on the night. Watertown drops to 0-2 while Pierre continues to look sharp even after a 10 day layoff.

The Governors will be off until Friday, Dec. 30 when the girls will host Spearfish and then Sturgis on Saturday, Dec. 31 while the boys will be on the road to both Spearfish and Sturgis.
