Joan Adam To Retire As Health Secretary

PIERRE — Another Department Secretary job for Governor Kristi Noem is open. State Health Secretary Joan Adam is retiring from the role less than a year after taking the helm from former Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon in March. The retirement comes as news reports come out regarding the Department of Health signing a contract with the Transformation Project; apparently without Noem’s knowledge. Adam has been a health department employee for a combined 20 years. That time included being Division Director for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and Administration. With Adam leaving as Health Secretary, it now brings to three the number of open cabinet secretary positions. On the Bureau of Human Resources state job listing website, cabinet secretary positions are being sought for the Department of Education and Department of Social Services.
