The Pierre Governor wrestling teams are both 1-0 in duals as they open up with an ESD win over the Brookings Bobcats on Thursday.
The Governor boys won nine of the 11 full matches on the evening for a 57-7 win. Pierre had three forfeit wins. Jaxon Ducheneaux, Deegan Houska, Chance Carda and Josh Rydberg all had pinfall wins for the Govs in its first dual of the season.
The Pierre girls didn’t allow a single point to the Bobcats with a 39-0 win. Six of the seven wrestlers had pinfall wins as Sydney Uhrig, Lexie Hilmer, Gianna Stangeland, Hattie Baldwin, Ireland Templeton and Mary Mehlhaff all reacorded a fall with Uhrig, Stangeland and Baldwin all happening in the first period.
