The Pierre Governor wrestling teams are set to host its first dual of the season tonight as they welcome in ESD rival the Brookings Bobcats for a boys and girls dual.
For the girls side, it’s the first dual for both Pierre and Brookings after the Governors competed and won the team title in the Mandan tournament last weekend. Tonight becomes the first step for the defending state champion Governor girls looking to win an ESD title.
It’s also the first boys dual for Pierre, but not for Brookings. The Bobcats wrestled West Central on Monday and fell 45-27. The Bobcats received three forfeit wins which totals 18 of the 27 points on the evening. Brookings had just one pin and one decision win on the nine full matches. The Bobcats were open in the 106 and 126. The Governors are coming off a second place finish in the Mandan tournament last weekend.
The opening match of the varsity duals will be at 6:15 at Riggs High School tonight. Pierre will head to Rapid City for a tournament starting on Friday.
