Pierre Begins Use Of Drinking Water Treatment Plant

PIERRE — After weeks of waiting, Pierre’s new 37-million dollar drinking water treatment plant is finally pushing treated Missouri River water through the city’s water distribution system. Project Manager Gidget Palmer poured cups of freshly treated water from the plant for Commissioners Tuesday night…

To help push the new water through the system and push out the well water a series of system flushes will be used, but different than the flushing done last year…

Palmer says the public won’t need to do much to adjust to the new water at least for a few more weeks…

Palmer says you can still continue to use water softeners or reverse osmosis systems if you wish and that the use of those systems are a personal preference but are no longer needed.
