Final Total From Guns ‘N Hoses Blood Drive 28 Units More Than First Reported, New Total 434

PIERRE — While the 18th annual Tyler Wilcox Memorial Guns ‘n Hoses blood drive was deemed a success, it turns out it was even better than first thought. Abbie Arneson with LifeServe Blood Center says she got a surprise when reviewing final numbers Monday morning…

Arneson says she was trying to get numbers out to the community faster than normal…

Arneson says some changes may be in the works for next year’s event to avoid a similar error…

The change means an additional 28 units of blood was donated during the drive. A total of 391 donors provided enough blood to save over 1300 lives. Final numbers are determined after the donations go to a facility in Sioux City, Iowa for processing. It can take a day or two to get the donations balanced and reconciled.
