Pierre Takes Home Team Win to Open Season

The Pierre Governor gymnastics team would win in its first event of the season at the Huron Quad on Thursday. The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes would finish fourth.

For the Governors, Nevaeh Karber would score an 8.4 in the uneven parallel bars to win the event while KaCee Wilson was fourth and Ryen Sheppick fifth. Karber would also place first in the floor exercise with an 8.95. Those two event wins would place Karber second in the All-Around behind Chamberlain’s Amelia Jones as Jones won the day with a 34.250 while Karber scored a 33.750. Sheppick was third in All-Around as she amassed a score of 32.7.

For Stanley County, Elena Hebb had the best day for the Lady Buffs as she placed fifth in the vault with a score of 8.5. She totaled a score of 28.950 and finished tied for tenth overall.

The Govs finished with a team score of 131.550 while Chamberlain had a 128.3 in second, Huron in third with a 122.2 and Stanley County rounding out the teams with a 122.050.
