Shorter Signs with Mankato Track and Field

Maya Shorter, a senior at T.F. Riggs would sign her National Letter of Intent Monday afternoon to continue her track and field career at Minnesota State Mankato next year.

Shorter throws for the Pierre Governors as she can do it all, the discus, the shot put and the javelin. Shorter placed in the top ten of all three categories at the state meet in her junior year including a second place finish in the discus throw. Shorter was sixth in javelin and eighth in the shot put. Shorter, who wants to major in exercise science, says the curriculum was one thing that helped draw her in outside of the sport…

The track and field season begins in the spring and Shorter will be looking for another top ten finish in all three categories.
