Oahe Capitals Ready for Season

The Oahe Capitals boys varsity team is set to begin its season on Friday as they wrapped up the preseason over the past weekend. The Caps will have a little different look to them for the 2022-23 season.

One big change will be the goaltending. Colin Lee takes over as the varsity starter after both Kieran Duffy and Carter Schulz were starters for the past two years and Duffy being a three year starter. The Capitals lose 41 goals from last year’s team as Carter Sanderson who had the team high 26 and Dre Berndt have moved on to junior teams while Kennan Howard and Jaden Flor combined for 16 of the 17 goals scored by seniors last year.

However, the Capitals do return its captain for his senior season as Ashton Griese will once again lead the team as he and Jarron Beck return from the top line last year. The two combined for 74 points last season. Griese says he’s expecting more from this year’s group…

With the Capitals playing the defending state champions in Brookings two of the first four games, Griese says this group has already been through a lot which will help…

The Capitals open the season all three days this weekend starting with Brookings on Friday night and Brandon Valley on Saturday and Sunday. Capitals games are on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
