Sanchez, Kaiser Selected for Second Team All-State, Kaiser and Terwilliger All-Tournament Team

Three Pierre Governors received postseason awards at the end of the tournament on Saturday and the beginning of the week. Lily Sanchez and Ayvrie Kaiser each made second team All-State while Kaiser and Reese Terwilliger were on the All-Tournament team.

The Governor seniors in both Kaiser and Sanchez would help lead the team to its second straight state tournament berth in 2022. Kaiser finished the regular season with 230 kills, leading the team at nearly 700 attempts while Sanchez was third on the team with 120 kills and 350 assists. Sanchez would achieve her 1000th career assist in the SoDak 16 game.

Over the course of the weekend at the state tournament, Terwilliger was the best Governor as she finished with 31 kills and 21 blocks as she lead all of AA in total blocks by seven. Kaiser finished with 40 kills over the three matches which was fourth best in AA for the weekend. Terwilliger was fourth in points scored while Kaiser was sixth on their way to a consolation championship. It’s the second All-State honor for Kaiser in her Pierre Governor career. Pierre finished the year at 18-6 with the consolation championship.
