The Pierre Governor football team had its welcome home on Monday as the Governors won its sixth straight state title on Saturday with a 35-20 win over the Tea Area Titans.
It was the second straight year the Governors beat Tea in the 11AA state championship as Pierre has beaten four different opponents in its run over the last six seasons. The Governors beat Harrisburg who is now in 11AAA in 2017, the Huron Tigers in 2018, the Brookings Bobcats in 2019 and 2020 and the Titans the last two seasons.
