Pierre and Tea, a Rematch a Year in the Making

The Pierre Governors and Tea Area Titans are set for a collision course and a rematch for the 11AA state title Saturday afternoon in Vermillion.

The two teams played an instant classic last season with Cole Peterson hitting a 40 yard field goal as time expired to win the title and keep the streak alive at five. This year, the two teams played another thriller with the Titans being intercepted on a Hail Mary pass into the endzone as the Govs were able to hold on for a 35-30 win. That’s the only loss between the two teams this year. Both the Governors and Titans beat its 11AAA opponents in thrilling fashion. These two teams have been evenly matched over the last two years, but the Governors are looking to tie the state record with its sixth straight state title.
