Pierre Governors Travel to Take on Jefferson with Big Playoff Implications to Close Season

The Pierre Governors will be on the road to finish the season on Tuesday as they travel out to Sioux Falls to face Jefferson in a potential first round state tournament matchup.

The two teams are four and five in the AA standings heading into tonight and if nothing changes and there isn’t an upset in the SoDak 16, the Govs and Cavs would meet again in the first round of the state tournament in two weeks. However, if the Govs falter tonight they will need a win from Aberdeen Central over Roosevelt to keep its fifth spot. Otherwise the Lincoln Patriots will overtake the fifth seed barring losses against Rapid City Central or Stevens this coming weekend. With a win, the Govs would move up to the four seed heading into the SoDak 16 nine days from now. Jefferson comes in at 20-6 after dropping its last match to Washington in a sweep. Pierre has won six of seven and looking to finish the season at 16-4.

Coverage tonight will begin at 6:30 with first serve at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
