Harrold Man Pleas Guilty To Charges From High Speed Chase Through Pierre, Hughes County

FORT PIERRE — A Harrold man, indicted by a Stanley County Grand Jury last week, has entered guilty pleas to the charges in his first court appearance in the case. The Grand Jury indicted 38 year-old Fabian Howe Jr. on charges including Aggravated Eluding and Driving Under the Influence. In providing a factual basis to the court; Stanley County States Attorney Thomas P. Maher says Howe Jr entered a South Dakota Highway Patrol sobriety check point just over the Missouri River Bridge in Fort Pierre around 1am on February 1st. When a Trooper approached Howe Jr, he detected possible impairment. As the Trooper tried to perform a breathalyzer test, Howe Jr rolled up his window, turned around and drove away from the checkpoint back to Pierre. Howe Jr sped through Pierre at speeds of 70 miles an hour and up to 115 miles per hour as he attempted to travel to the Crow Creek Reservation. A habitual offender information has been filed meaning Howe Jr. could face additional prison time, up to five years for the Aggravated Eluding. Sentencing is set for December6th.
