The two seed Lyman Raiders will be at home on Thursday hosting the seventh seeded Castlewood Warriors in the Class 9A Quarterfinals.
Castlewood would shutout the Timber Lake Panthers last Thursday in a 26-0 game to advance to the quarterfinals tonight. The Warriors come in at 7-2 and the two losses have been to Hamlin and Elkton-Lake Benton with a combined one loss on the season. Castlewood’s defense has been stout all season with four shutouts and another two wins allowing less than 10 points.
The Raiders took care of business last Thursday with a 50-0 mercy rule win over Oldham-Ramona/Rutland. Just like Castlewood, Lyman’s defense has been stingy as they picked up a third shutout on the season while seven of its eight wins have come keeping the opponent under 10 points. Mike Kieffer, head coach of the Raiders says Castlewood has a lot of athleticism and size but he says for the Raider offense, they need to worry about themselves…
But Kieffer says they’ve made a few adjustments on defense…
Kieffer says they need to play a clean game tonight…
Kickoff tonight is scheduled for 6:00 at Lyman High School. The winner of tonight’s game will face the winner of Gregory and Wolsey-Wessington next Friday.
