Hughes County Commission Approves Repairs To Courthouse Elevator, Roof

PIERRE — The Hughes County Commission last week has approved 80-thousand dollars to make repairs to the elevator in the Hughes County Courthouse. County Manager Lori Jacobson says the bid includes 24-thousand dollars in previously approved repairs to the elevator’s hydraulic system…

The next option for Commissioners would be a full elevator replacement estimated at nearly 450-thousand dollars…

The elevator would be out of service for six to eight weeks which may cause issues for holding circuit court proceedings on the third floor…

Jacobson says they believe the elevator was installed wrong originally. The work would not be able to be started on the elevator until December. The Hughes County Commission also approved over 16-thousand dollars for repairs to the courthouse roof.
