The Pierre Governors would dominate the first set, comeback in the second and then hang on in the third to sweep the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles on Senior Day.
Pierre controlled the first set from the start of the match holding Aberdeen Central to just two kills with a 25-12 win. Then in set two, Pierre was down 11-5 before scoring 16 of the next 18 points to take the lead and defeat the Golden Eagles 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead and then a back and forth battle led to a 25-22 win in the third set and a sweep. Junior Campbell Boddicker would lead the way with 10 kills for Pierre while senior Ayvrie Kaiser had seven. Senior Remi Price and junior Aleise Christopherson each had three aces of the nine for Pierre. Eighth grader Lauryn Burckhard had eight kills to lead the way for the Golden Eagles.
The Governors are now 14-4 on the season while Aberdeen Central drops to 11-11. The Govs will travel out to Brookings on Tuesday to face the Bobcats. Coverage will start at 6:30 with first serve at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
