Chargers Fall in Four Sets, Close Out Regular Season Monday

The Sully Buttes Charger volleyball team faced Herreid Selby Area, and after a solid start Tuesday night, the Chargers just didn’t have enough as the Wolverines prevailed by scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, and 25-23.

After squeaking out a first set win, Sully Buttes was plagued by mis-hits, and back row errors, and the Wolverines took advantage of their opportunities with solid defense, and dominating front row blocking by 6’1″ junior Jada Rossow, and 5’11” freshman Jordyn Rossow. Senior Night for the Chargers had seven seniors play their last game on their home court during regular season, with Lydia Hill and Allyson Wittler leading the way in kills, while junior Stevie Wittler covered the court as the primary setter.

The 17-7 Wolverines will host Ipswich Monday night, pitting the first and third place teams in Region 6B, while the 12-15 Chargers will face the 12-15 Hitchcock Tulare Patriots in Tulare Monday night. The match was scheduled to be played Friday, but was moved after school was called off so friends and family could attend the funeral of long time Sully Buttes coach Mark Senftner Friday morning.
