Planned Development District Approved By Fort Pierre City Council

FORT PIERRE — The Fort Pierre City Council has approved a modification to an area of zoning in the city to allow for a small development of single family homes. Kris Edwards with T and A Single Family Homes says he sees a need in Fort Pierre for affordable, single family housing….

Edwards didn’t give an estimate as to what the homes may be priced at. Public Works Director Rick Hahn says a planned development district was used for the area to control its development…

The Planned Development District would allow for up to eight homes along a single access drive…

While the district was approved, Council members Rick and Larry Cronin strongly encouraged Edwards to consider the installation of at least one; possibly more of fire hydrants along the 35-foot wide access road to the homes. The area of the project is near Waldron Street and Dakota Avenue.
