Pierre Man Arrested Monday Following Disturbance Call

PIERRE — A Pierre man is arrested Monday on drug charges and resisting arrest. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers were called just before eight-PM Monday night to the one-thousand block of North Garfield Avenue for a disturbance call. Officers arrived to find 22 year-old Jack McClelland and another person having a verbal argument. Walz says McClelland’s behavior during their interaction with him gave them concern. As police attempted to detain McClelland, he pulled away from officers and struggled with them. While struggling with police he attempted to pass an object to another nearby person. Once police restrained McClelland, he was removed from the residence and placed in a police car. Officers found a hypodermic needle while searching McClelland. The needle contained a liquid inside that later tested positive for a controlled substance. Other drug paraphernalia was also found with McClelland’s things. He was arrested on four changes including Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing an Officer.
