The Pierre Governor golf team nearly took the team state title from the Harrisburg Tigers on Tuesday as the Govs, once done by 10 plus shots were able to rally within a shot of first place before the Tigers held off Pierre for an eight shot win.
Nick Bothun would place fourth for the Governors as he finished the two day event a three over par, seven shots behind Harrisburg’s Riley Christensen who took home the individual state title with a four under par for the tournament. He finished as the only player under par. Lincoln Houska would shoot a 72 on Tuesday which pulled him to be tied for 11th along with Sawyer Sonnenschein. Houska’s 72 was the best round for the Governors on Tuesday. Jack Barlett would finish tied for 13th at eight over par, one shot behind both Sonnenschein and Houska. Luke Olson was tied for 16th at nine over and Charlie Simpson finished with a score of 184 over the two days.
