A two shot difference between third place and first place for the Pierre Governors at the ESD tournament leads to confidence heading into the state tournament which begins Monday in Mitchell.
The Governors have two invite wins over the course of the year and has been inside the top five in eight of the 10 total competitions. The Governors have been led by the sophomores of Luke Olson, Sawyer Sonnenschein, Lincoln Houska, Jack Bartlett, Nick Bothun and Charlie Simpson have been the six consistent varsity members for the Governors this year. Olson along with Sonnenschein, Houska, Bartlett and Bothun all finished inside the top ten at the ESD in Pierre. Now the Governors head to Mitchell to compete in the state tournament. Head coach of the Governors, Tiffany Benham says winning a couple of invites this season can go a long way in the state tournament…
Benham says the guys know they could be in contention for the individual state championship and she says they just need to manage the course…
