Bothun, Sonnenschein in Contention after Day One, Governors in Second Place

The Pierre Governors are in second place after the first day of the Class AA state tournament and two Governors, Nick Bothun and Sawyer Sonnenschein are within striking distance of first.

Bothun played near the top of the leader board for the entire first day. He finished two under par at 70, just two shots behind the clubhouse leader in Harrisburg’s Riley Christensen. Sonnenschein was only a shot behind Bothun, tied for fourth with a one under par, 71. Luke Olson shot a three over par 75 to tie for seventh. Jack Bartlett would round out the scoring for the Governors on day one with a six over par, 78. Lincoln Houska had a 79 and Charlie Simpson finished with a 90.

The Governors are in second place to begin day two, eight shots behind Harrisburg for the lead. The Tigers were a two under par as a team, but the Governors were only six over par. They stay ahead of third place O’Gorman by 10 shots. Tiffany Benham, head coach of the Governors says for both Bothun and Sonnenschein to continue to manage the course in the second day…

The Governors will be some of the last to tee off for day two. The day starts at 9:00 AM.
