Governors Hang Tough, Fall to O’Gorman

The Pierre Governors nearly took the first set from the O’Gorman Lady Knights on Thursday night at home but it was OG with a sweep of the Governors 27-25, 25-19 and 25-15.

The Governors drop to 9-3 on the season, but had a chance to close out the first set with a 24-22 lead. However, it was O’Gorman with three straight points to take a 25-24 lead and then finish off the Govs at 27-25 in the first set. The first real separation came in the second set as OG took an 18-11 lead as the Govs tried to climb their way back although falling just short in the second set. Bergen Reilly took over the third set with eight kills to lead a 10 point set win and a sweep of the Governors. Reilly finished with 15 kills on the night and four aces, but it was Brogan Beck with a match high 17 to lead the way for OG. The Governors received nine kills from Ayvrie Kaiser and six from Lily Sanchez.

Pierre will now travel to Brandon on Saturday to take on the Brandon Valley Lynx. Coverage will start at 2:00 with first serve at 2:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
