Pierre Finishes Regular Season Strong with Girls Win and Boys Tie

The Pierre Governor soccer teams would go into Huron and come away with finishes to the season both can be pleased to have. The Governor girls would win 8-0 over the Tigers while the boys would pick up a huge 1-1 tie.

The Governor girls jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes and led 4-0 at halftime. Ryann Barry would score two goals as seven different Governors found the back of the net. Natalie Flottmeyer, Ellie Hughes, Jasmine Jost, Reed Curry, Neveah Baade and Grace Richter all had goals for the Governors as they finish the season at 8-4-1 and will host a first round playoff matchup whenever the brackets are released.

The Governor boys finished the season with a 1-1 draw against the top team in AA. The Tigers have now gone winless in its last three games after winning eight of the first nine contests. Earland Tveite had the tying goal for Pierre as the Govs defense stood tall against a team that had been held under two goals just twice all season.

The Governors will await their fate in the playoffs next week Tuesday. Brackets will be available after the regular season concludes across the state. KCCR will have coverage of playoff soccer beginning next week Tuesday.
