The Pierre Governor soccer teams will be in Huron on Tuesday as the regular season will come to an end as the Governor girls look to hold on to a top eight seed to host a first round playoff game.
The girls come in after a tie on Saturday with Jefferson and face the lowly Tigers who have not won a game all season. Huron, at 0-11, has yet to even score a goal all year. Over its 11 losses, five games have ended early with at least a 10-0 lead for its opponents. The Governors will look to build more confidence and find the back of the net often heading into the playoffs next week Tuesday.
From the bottom of the standings for the Huron girls, the boys team sits atop the AA standings. The Tigers are 8-1-2 but have not won in its last two contests. Huron lost 1-0 to O’Gorman and tied 2-2 with Watertown. The Governors are mostly likely out of the running for a home playoff game, but beating the number one team in AA will certainly give a boost to a team already at 7-4-1 on the season.
Kickoff from Huron is at 4:00 for the girls and 6:00 for the boys. The playoffs will begin next week Tuesday.
