At their home course, the Pierre Governors finished in third place on Saturday in the ESD tournament in their final competition before state.
The Governors had its best outing from Luke Olson who finished in third at a 70 but three Governors tied for seventh as Sawyer Sonnenschein, Nick Bothun, Jack Bartlett and Lincoln Houska all had a 73 for Pierre with five of the six golfers finishing inside the top ten. Pierre was just two shots behind Watertown for the overall win as Watertown had a 287, Harrisburg in second had a 288 and Pierre had a 289.
Watertown’s Jake Olson finished at a seven under 65 to claim the ESD individual championship while Harrisburg’s Parker Schultz had a 66, one shot behind for second. Five golfers in total finished under par for the day at Hillsview Golf Course.
The Governors will travel to Mitchell on Monday and Tuesday, Oct 3-4 for the state championships.
