Governors Stumble in Sweep at Sioux Falls Lincoln

Governors Stumble in Sweep at Sioux Falls Lincoln

For the first time this season the Pierre Governors were swept as the Lincoln Patriots would win 25-17, 25-19 and 25-21 Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls.

The Governors picked up a 3-1 lead in the first set but a run by the Patriots put them up for good. Then in set two, Pierre opened up an 18-11 lead before the Patriots would score 14 of the next 15 points including 10 straight to beat the Governors in the second set. Lincoln kept Pierre at arms length in the third set as the Governors couldn’t quite tie it up at any point in the set.

Nyareal Kutey had 11 kills to lead the way for the Patriots while Sophia Siegel and Linnea Nesheim each had eight. Lincoln finished with five aces in their seventh win of the season as they improve to 7-4. The Governors were led by Ayvrie Kaiser with eight kills while Campbell Boddicker had five. Pierre did finish with seven aces in the loss as they fall to 8-2 at the midway point of the year.

The Governors have 10 days between games. Pierre will host Rapid City Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 27. KCCR will have coverage of the match with first serve at 7:00.
