Governors Slow to Start Still Route Yankton on Homecoming Night

It wasn’t the start offensively the Pierre Governors were looking to have without a first down on its first three drives, but the Govs were still able to put up 55 points on Yankton to beat the Bucks on Homecoming night 55-10 to improve to 4-0.

The Yankton defense made life tough for an offense which never really saw any hard times in its first three wins. Pierre’s first time across the sticks turned into a 62 yard touchdown run from Lincoln Kienholz to get the Governors on the board. It also started after the Governor defense forced Yankton from a goal-to-go situation back to the 48 yard line and punt the ball away.

Jett Zabel scored twice through the air, Cade Kaiser had a touchdown grab and had over 100 receiving yards while Brock Moser would bust through the century mark at 121 yards rushing and a 52 yard rushing touchdown. Kienholz finished with 173 yards through the air and 174 yards on the ground as the Governors amassed over 500 yards of total offense after having less than 10 through the first three drives. Trey Lewis, Kienholz and Jayden Wiebe picked off Rugby Ryken for his first turnovers of the season.

Pierre is now 4-0 and will take on the Watertown Arrows next week on the road starting a stretch of three straight road games. Coverage will start at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
