Pierre Soccer Sweeps Brookings in Final Home Game

The Pierre Governor Soccer teams ended its home schedule with two big wins as the Governor girls would win 4-1 and the boys 6-2 over the Brookings Bobcats on Thursday.

The Governor girls scored just once in the first half while controlling near 90% of play as senior Elli Hughes scored six minutes into the match. Hughes would open up the scoring in the second half just a minute and four seconds into the half. Grace Richter would make it 3-0 sending her own rebound shot off the post into the back of the net and senior Caitlyn Schaetzle made it 4-0 before the Bobcats scored its lone goal in the final three minute. Ireland Templeton made just two saves on the day. The Govs improve to 6-4.

The Pierre boys would get four goals from Rylan Derry in its 6-2 win as Pierre opened up a 6-0 lead before the Bobcats would score. Devon Flottmeyer and Nathan Ehrisman would add the other two goals for Pierre as the boys have now won four straight and have not been defeated in its last six games. Pierre improves to 7-2-1.

Pierre will travel to Yankton on Tuesday. The girls will play at 4:00 and the boys at 6:00. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
