PIERRE — The Pierre City Commission is meeting tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building. The meeting starts in special business with the 2023 South Dakota Inauguration and the introduction of this year’s chairs for the events. Commissioners will consider approval of a six-item consent calendar before moving on to regular agenda items. In unfinished business, Commissioners will consider a facility use agreement with Zap Baseball and the Independence League for Hyde Stadium and a bid award for a scraper at the landfill. In new business, the Commission will consider approval of a solid waste disposal contract with the City of Huron; a request to discharge fireworks at the Riggs Homecoming football game and a request to serve alcohol at Pierre Regional Airport for the Eagle Gallery event coming up on Friday. Also on the agenda is a large grants request from Business Improvement District One and first reading of an update to the Water Rate Ordinance. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30pm.
